Entourage 2004 for Mac

How do I clean the database file in Entourage 2004? I've noticed the app crashed 3 times today and when I looked at my database file in main identity it's at 2.72 GB. My windows IT guy says that's too big & it's about to crash your whole app. Need to archive, clean, groom or whatever to get that file much smaller. But no idea how. Anyone know of way to do in app or 3rd party plug-in?
