HELP! ipod nano 2nd generation is not syncing on itunes10!

hi guys, recently i have installed the new itunes 10. and currently my 2nd generation ipod is no longer able to sync with the new itunes10.
i tried uninstalling itunes10 and install back to the previous old version of itunes but it didn't work. itunes10 have converted all the files to the newer version and the old itunes files are unable to read.
is there any thing i can do? i don't wish to get a new ipod just because of this!
