AppleScript to activate Ethernet

Hi,

I have been trying, to find a one click solution to connect - or disconnect Ethernet, similar to the feature available to connect / disconnect "Airport".

At the moment I am using an Automator script, which however is not only slow, but will not work 4 out of ten times (cursor just hangs during the operation).

The best solution would probably be an AppleScript, but despite consulting various sites on the Internet, I could not manage, to work out the respective mnemonics required, to write such a script.

In order to connect manually, my current procedure is:

System Preferences
Network
Ethernet
Configure IPv4
using DHCP
Apply

To disconnect:

System Preferences
Network
Ethernet
Configure IPv4
Off
Apply

For either of the 2 procedures I would need some assistance to write a Script.

My system configuration:

MacBook Pro 17", 2.66GHz, 4GB Ram
Mac OSX 10.6.4

Any solution, even other than an AppleScript, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Vic
